Mood
Mood is the feeling that the author provides the reader through setting, diction, and tone.
Liza: "The shallow depression in the west of these islands is likely to move in an easterly direction. There are no indications of any great change in the barometrical situation" (Shaw 76, Act III).
Shaw creates a comical mood as Eliza speaks this way to Mrs. Higgins. Her English is so elevated that it becomes humorous. Freddy even laughs because nobody in the upper class truly talks with that much sophistication. This shows that Eliza will never truly fit into the upper class, even with all the lessons she was given.
