Sarcasm
Sarcasm is a type of irony that humorously mocks a person or something about society.
Mrs. Pearce "What about her parents? She may be married."
Liza: "Garn!"
Higgins: " There! As the girl properly says, Garn! Married Indeed! Dont you know that a woman of that class looks a worn out drudge..." (Shaw 38, Act II).
Higgins used sarcasm when he said "Garn!" is a "proper" phrase. He found these phrases despicable and joked that Eliza must be married if she speaks such deplorable language. This is another example of how Higgins treats Eliza in a derogatory manner.
